Melissa Lewis, R.D., M.S., J.D., is the owner of M C Lewis Law & Mediation Office, P.C., where she serves as an attorney and mediator. Her practice includes family law, estate planning and probate, guardianship, criminal law, municipal matters, and general civil issues. She previously worked as an associate attorney and corporate counsel, representing both hearing and deaf clients.

 

Born with significant hearing loss, Melissa communicates in both English and American Sign Language, allowing her to effectively serve and advocate for the deaf and hearing communities. Her personal and professional experience gives her a unique understanding of the legal challenges individuals who are deaf may face.

 

Melissa holds a J.D. from CUNY School of Law and is licensed to practice in Iowa. She also earned degrees in dietetics and sports nutrition and is a registered dietitian. A certified mediator, she serves on the family law mediator roster for Iowa’s 5th Judicial District and is active in several state and local bar associations.
